Within the rapidly-expanding alternative finance industry, equity crowdfunding is emerging as a popular method of growth finance. Equity crowdfunding is a mechanism by which a broad group of investors can fund start-up companies and small businesses in return for equity.
In collaboration with UK insurance company AIG, the researchers of CrowdfundingHub worked together with leading European experts from SyndicateRoom, Seedrs, AIG, CrowdCube, Invesdor, Twintangibles and Legal Alternative to create a state-of-the-art overview of the Equity Crowdfunding industry.

Voorkomderamp (‘prevent disaster’) is the crowdfunding platform of the Red Cross Princess Margriet Fund. It offers everyone an accessible and transparent way to contribute to projects to prevent natural disasters. Helping out is easier than ever now.
Voorkomderamp.nl can look back on a very good year. 2015 was the start of the crowdfunding platform, official launch at TEDx AMsterdam. On it, some projects already have been successfully funded; such as the app that saves lives in Haiti, disaster-proof schools in Haiti and a musical remedy project in Ethiopia. These projects can only succeed through the great efforts of the pioneers.

Train-the-trainer program to train the communication manager of Red Cross in crowdfunding and how to train the project owners. Supported the organization with platform selection for their IT solution. Supported the internal kick-off event at Paleis het Loo with Princess Margriet (Patroness of the NGO) and presented the concept of Crowdfunding to the princess and the Pioneers. The pioneers are Dutch celebrities who adopted one or more projects.”

Masterclass Crowdfunding for Incubators and Accelerators
On 1 april 2015 CrowdfundingHub held a 2 hour masterclass by Ronald Kleverlaan. His presentation “Crowdfunding, more than money’, can be found here. His presentation focuses on the community as a marketing team and he highlighted the renewed interest in co-ooperative models.
Introduction to Alternative Finance
This session was moderated by Ronald Kleverlaan who gave the floor to Sam Ridler from the P2P Finance Association which represents 95% of the UK’s Peer-to-Peer lending market. She gave an overview of the UK Alternative Finance industry. Coenraad de Vries spoke on behalf of the European Crowdfunding Network and focused on how crowdfunding can be shaped to become a mature industry. The funding gap for SME’s was discussed by Adriaan Hendrikse. He gave an description how NPEX created a capital market for SME’s. Last but not least Phil Dardier, CEO of Alternativa. He especially focused on the regulatory issues that confronts an industry player like Alternative.
